 45th Reunion in Canberra , ACT 23-25 March 2007

Welcome to Canberra and the Nation’s Capital . We hope that the 371 members and guests , who are from all states and territories , NZ and the USA , will enjoy their stay here . This brief is to provide you with the details of the activities and events.

The following program has been arranged :
 

 
 

Friday 23rd March 2007 
 
 
 

 

Meet and Greet Cocktail Party

1730 hrs to 1800 hrs - Registration ( and pick up “Final Details “ bag ). 
Once registered move into venue for the Cocktail Party. 

1800 hrs to 1930 hrs  -  Reception – to include short “ Welcome to the ACT”  address by the                           Chief Minister of the ACT – Mr Jon Stanhope

Location: School of Hospitality, Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) , Constitution Ave, REID

Dress:  Jacket and Tie (Men) – no medals or miniatures. .  After Five attire (Ladies)

Bus Transport : from pick up points 20 minutes before function and return for those  requiring it.

Note: Members and their guests to make own arrangements for dinner.
 


 
Saturday, 24th March 2007 Commemorative Service at the Australian War Memorial

1030 hrs to 1130 hrs - Commemorative Service in the Western ForeCourt , at the side of the AWM.
Seats provided and request to be seated by 1020 hrs.
Royal Military College Duntroon Band and Piper in attendance.

Location:  Australian War Memorial , Anzac Parade , REID.

Dress:  Suit or Jacket - TEAM tie and full size Medals to be worn with both (Men) . Day Wear and full size medals to be worn (Ladies) . As March in Canberra may be hot or cool a hat , beret or sun umbrella and/or a light jacket for the ladies should be considered.

Bus Transport: from pick up points … minutes before function and return for those requiring it . Those staying OLIMS Hotel may choose to walk as its only a five minute stroll .
Notes: Members and Guests to make own arrangements for lunch.

Free time at conclusion of service until the 3pm pick up at bus points for the Reception.

AATTV Commemorative Plaque: This is embedded in the lawn area of the northern side of the walkway from the Western Forecourt to the carpark.

Reception at Government House , Canberra

1530 hrs to 1700 hrs - Outdoor Reception at Government House to be hosted by the Governor 
General Major General Michael Jeffrey AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffrey. A huge marquee is being erected for the occasion.

Location: Government House , Dunrossil Drive , YARRALUMLA.

Dress: Suit or Jacket and TEAM tie with full size medals (Men) . Smart day wear with full size medals (Ladies).

Bus Transport: from pick up points 30 minutes before function and return to pick up points after  Function . Those taking cars –see “Final Details “ bag.

Note: Everyone will be issued with individual Invitation/Entrée Card at Registration. 

Reunion Dinner at OLD Parliament House

1900 for 1930:Pre-dinner drinks in the Kings  Hall of Old Parliament House 
1930 to 2300:   Reunion Dinner at “Gingers” in the former Members Dining Room at  OLD Parliament House. 
Seating: of 10 at each table..

Location: Old Parliament House, King Georges Terrace, PARKES – entry at front from King George’s Terrace.

Dress: Lounge Suit with miniatures (Men) . Dinner Dress with miniatures (Ladies).

Bus Transport : from pick up points …minutes before function and return to pick up points after function.

Notes :  A “ tab “ will operate at the bar which covers beer , wine and soft drinks only. This will operate until notified – after which it will be at own cost. Wine will also be provided on each table at the start of the dinner.

National Executive Meeting

1000 hrs - National Executive meetingfor State Branch Presidents and Secretaries only ( or their
Nominees)  . Venue to be advised.

Buffet Lunch at  Ainslie Footbal Club

1200 hrs to 1400 hrs Buffet Lunch at Ainslie Football Club 

Location :  Ainslie (AFL) Football Club , Wakefield Avenue , AINSLIE.

Dress:  Neat Casual and informal for everyone.

Bus Transport:  from pick up points …. minutes before function and return to pick up points after function (timings to be advised ).

Notes:  There is ample parking behind the club
 

BUS TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Pick Up Points: There will be two major bus  pick up points with the possibility of a third smaller one. The two major ones will be at OLIMS HOTEL , Corner Limestone and Ainslie Ave AINSLIE  and the CANBERRA REX HOTEL ,150 Northbourne Ave (Corner Ipima St & Northbourne Ave ) . There is ample parking at both these locations.
People staying in other accommodation should get to the Canberra Rex Pick Up Point.

Note : If there are sufficient people staying at the Caravan Village O’Connor  a third smaller pick up point will be organised there. Check the Reception desk when you check in.

NAME TAGS
To help the “Reunion”  aspect members and their guests are urged to bring their own name tags to ALL functions. Those who need AATTVA one are asked to get into touch with the Treasurer of our Qld Branch who make an excellent Team name tag for each individual person - male or female. SECURITY AND TRAVEL INSURANCE- DISCLAIMER FOR RISKS
Canberra is a safe city but normal security precautions for your valuables should be exercised at your accommodation. Consider whether you need travel insurance. As with the 40th Reunion in Perth all persons attending the AATTV Association 45th Reunion 2007 do so at their own risk, the Reunion Committee accepts no responsibility for personal injury , property damage or any other loss that may be suffered through participation in any of the events comprising the AATTV Association 45th Reunion 2007.

COSTS
Sponsorship from the Federal Department of Veteran Affairs has been sought from the Minister for Veteran Affairs and approval for all or part of our submission is expected before Christmas.
Sponsorship from the ACT Government has been approved by the Chief Minister. Although the sum is small ($2000) it is a recognition for our Reunion being helf in Canberra.

NATIONAL RAFFLE
It is proposed to have a national raffle to defray costs. Tickets to be issued later this year. Prizes being two items donated from the WA 40th celebrations plus a dozen bottles of premium wine from the ACT region. A commemorative label has been arranged for the wine, other bottles of which will also be available to members attending.

AMOUNT TO MEMBERS
Updated 25th January 2007.  The final cost per member and each member’s guest was determined at $240 per person. Those who have paid the initial registration of $50 per person and the first instalment of $100 per person only have to pay the balance of $90 per person. This and the other arrangements made will be advised in a fuller document once received.

A list of preferred accommodation venues was published in the Jun 06 issue of the Adviser magazine. Should anyone want a copy of this then please ask for: Coloured Brochure about the Team and the Re-union.  They were sent out to each state - approx 70 to each branch. FIRST INSTALMENT OF EVENT COSTS REQUESTED
It is requested that members now send a first instalment of Events Costs of $100 per person attending.  This money to be sent to Simon Hearder, AssistantSecretary/Treasurer to Reunion 07, AATTV ACT Branch,  7 Salsola Street, RIVETT ACT 2611. Individual receipts will be issued by me to State Branch Secretaries for on forwarding to members so that they are kept in the loop.
